Language Proficiency Requirement
You must be able to read and speak English well enough to communicate effectively. This is federal law, not a RoadPro policy: under 49 C.F.R. 391.11(b)(2), a commercial driver must be able to converse with the general public, understand highway traffic signs and signals in English, respond to official inquiries, and make entries on reports and records.
English proficiency is mandatory for the State Examination. Under 49 C.F.R. 383.133(c)(5), interpreters are prohibited during the skills test. If a language barrier prevents you from completing or communicating during the examination, RoadPro CDL Training reserves the right to terminate enrollment.
